IN THE 10TH DIMENSION

If you have been considering a subject to stimulate your mind, consider dimensions. In the uncomplicated way I understand our reality, we perceive space in three dimensions and time in one. But our “reality” is not absolute reality. Indeed, the Bible demonstrates that God exists and operates in dimensions of space and time other than those that confine us. (1 Kings 8:27, Hebrews 11:3). God could not have made the universe if He was confined to it. God would not be limited to what He could see then, because our third dimension would not be His boundary. How about time? We live in only one dimension moving forward. But the Bible indicates that God exists in at least two dimensions (2 Peter 3:8, Psalms 90:4). Meaning that the reality of God, His Kingdom, is outside our reality in both time and space, but would then exceed comprehension. This is the good news, we need a bigger than us God with a bigger than earth kingdom.

“Tell us about the Kingdom,” was a refrain recorded numerous times by the gospel writers as coming from the disciples to Jesus. And so over and over we read Jesus beginning a teaching with the words, “The Kingdom of heaven is like...,” and at his point you can see the disciples leaning in, thinking this would be the big break that would settle all of their questions, and then Jesus would finish, “… a mustard seed” or some other unexceptional object or experience. Reading the Gospel accounts gives us the impression that most of the time the disciples just didn’t get it. Maybe we don’t either. It would be worth our review. And I imagine when we are done, our understanding will be “larger,” but so would our God. We won’t ever catch Him.

Nice post. I think 1) the world is very quick to confine God to His creation and 2) we are pretty quick to follow suit. Just like the painter isn't confined to the painting he has made. He also wants us to see more than our individual square millimeter of the painting. It is really mind boggling, because who are we, that such a God would condescend to us?
