This was painted by a friend and church member in Pennsylvania. This was actually a mural painted by her mother that is the backdrop to the baptistry in what was my church. Every week I looked into the picture... I want to know where that trail leads... I can imagine if I were to follow, it would take me... But in the end, that is the beautiful aspect of following God -He takes delight in leading me down the trail... I am learning to appreciate Him taking my hand.
This just arrived this week. Several weeks ago I was walking through the art building on campus and I saw this... I tracked the photographer down (that was a story) and now 2 weeks later I have my own print. I was drawn by the looking glass - An attempt to see the distant/future. There is a little plaque on it that reads: "Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living." It is profound enough when applied to physical travel... but now think about the spiritual! My spiritual journey is more than just endurance and experience - but rather where God leads me is to produce a deep and permanent change in my ideas of living. Wow!
This one isn't mine - but I took the picture of the picture anyway. The inscription under the two boys is: "He ain't heavy, Father, he's my brother." This is actually a song title written by a priest when he saw the picture of a young boy carrying another boy on his back. The lyrics of the song speak about traveling on a long road on which we don't return - and of course supporting each other. The concept predates the song- But I need the reminder. I want to support others - their welfare to be my concern.
By the way, if you ever wonder... you're not heavy... you're my brother/sister.
